Before you throw that away....

Think about this....

Islands of PLASTIC TRASH in our oceans. Specifcially, North of Hawaii, in the Pacific Ocean, there's a mass of tangled plastic trash TWICE THE SIZE OF TEXAS {EWWWWWWWWW!!!!} that's accumulated in a slow, swirling vortex of water and air created by the high pressure zone ("gyre"). This thirty-foot deep mass of tires, lawn furniture, tampon wrappers, milk jugs, plastic bags, bath toys, traffic cones, etc. You don't have to be a brainiac to figure out this can trap & kill marine life & also poison them if they eat it. Rotting marine life adds even more toxins to this island of death!

See also the November issue of BestLife magazine and the October issue of National Geographic.

It makes me want to go out in a boat & gather it. But then where would we put it? It's not like we have room in our landfills. TWICE THE SIZE OF TEXAS!!!

Reduce, reuse, recyle. Live long & prosper!
